blair noemt Nieuwjaar een moment voor mensen om zich te bezinnen op hun geloof, hun betrokkenheid bij de inspirerende waarden er van opnieuw te bevestigen en om de rijkdom van de joodse geschiedenis en tradities te vieren.
De bijdrage van de Joodse gemeenschap aan Britse successen is iets, zo zei Blair, dat voor ons allemaal een reden is om te vieren.

I am pleased to send my very best wishes to the Jewish community in Britain celebrating Rosh Hashanah.
This festival does not simply mark the beginning of another New Year. It is a time, too, when Jewish communities in Britain and across the world reflect on their faith, re-affirm their commitment to its inspiring values and celebrate Judaism’s rich history and tradition.
The festival of Rosh Hashanah also gives every one of us a chance to reflect on the important contribution that the Jewish community has made over many years to Britain’s success. This is something for us all to celebrate.
I hope that all your wishes for a successful and sweet New Year will be fulfilled.
