Nu de bevolking van Israel in een toenemend deel van de joodse staat onder raketvuur van Hamas ligt, heeft het Nederlands-Israëlitisch Kerkgenootschap zich per brief gericht tot de ambassadeur van Israel. Daarin heeft het woorden van steun en sympathie geuit. De brief besluit met de wens dat er spoedig rust zal heersen en dat we allen mogen aanschouwen hoe Israel het streven realiseert om zijn inwoners te beschermen en bovenal dat er vrede aanbreekt voor Israel en zijn buren.
In times of crisis the Jewish people stands together. This letter serves to affirm our staunch support for the people of the Jewish State in this most difficult time. Again we witness how the State of Israel and its citizens are coping with day to day attacks on its territory and how the leaders of Israel are doing their utmost to secure the lives of their citizens.
Please be assured of the fact that Jews around the globe, including the Jewish communities of the Netherlands, share in your concerns and pray for the wellbeing of the State of Israel, its leaders and its security forces. May soon tranquillity be witnessed and may we all perceive how Israel will be victorious in its endeavour to protect its inhabitants, and above all may peace come soon for Israel with its neighbours.
